FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CHARLIE KIRK HONORED AS A CHRISTIAN MARTYR FOR HIS LIFE, FAITH AND WORK.
September 17, 2025 – After the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, the Bonner County Republican Party, in a vote of 28-3, passed a resolution honoring the life, faith and work of Charlie Kirk.
The Bonner County Republican Central Committee, the official organization of Idaho’s Republican Party for Bonner County, honors Charlie and condemns label lynching and political violence. We commit to follow the example set by Charlie Kirk.
A reminder: Just because someone like Charlie Kirk disagrees with you does not mean they hate you. In fact, speaking truth politely to someone you disagree with should be more properly interpreted as love.
While we call for the end of violence and rhetoric that stirs up violence, we are mindful that “the wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death” – Psalm 37:32.
AS PASSED – RESOLUTION 2025-3:
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk, the 31 year-old founder of Turning Point USA was assassinated by a single gunshot while talking to students at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie was an energetic, effective, bold and practical speaker for a traditional American, conservative worldview that elevated the gospel of Jesus Christ and the fundamental truths of God’s created order for people and for this nation; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk regularly entered into America’s universities and contended for a historical, conservative worldview with respectful dialogue and debate, in which he treated those who participated with dignity and respect, even when his hearers held opposing worldviews or treated Charlie with disrespect or indignities; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk never flinched from his unapologetic defense of the God-given rights to speak, to assemble, to affiliate, to due process, to a justice that is blind to one’s social status, religion or national background; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk never compromised America’s historical background that is rooted in Christianity, that elevates the blessings of traditional families as created by God, that affirms God’s creation of two biological sexes, male and female, and that affirms the right to life, the right to bear arms, secure national borders, personal responsibility and personal moral duty; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk didn’t just keep his worldview to himself but was an effective ambassador who communicated his worldview in the public square and also formed an organization that motivated and effectively trained others to be similarly effective; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk realized that our conservative beliefs and faith should be applied not only to ourselves personally, but to our family relationships, our businesses and our civic engagements and our politics, and he demonstrated this through discipleship and international ministry; and,
WHEREAS, as Psalm 37:32 affirms that “the wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death”, Charlie died a martyr in the act of living out his faith in the public square.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Bonner County Republican Central Committee (BCRCC) honors the late Charlie Kirk as an effective, respectful, and eloquent statesman for a conservative, Christian and traditional American worldview, who sought to let his light shine before men while contending for the truth; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the BCRCC condemns the rhetoric of those who oppose a conservative, Christian worldview by label lynching those like Charlie Kirk as “fascists”, “Nazis” and “haters”, which encourages fear and leads to political violence like the murder of Charlie; and,
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the BCRCC commits to follow Charlie Kirk’s example by boldly, courageously and respectfully contending for a conservative, Republican and biblical worldview in politics and civic engagement.
