Vote No on Proposition 1.
Many people have moved to Idaho from California or other western states where many bad laws have been passed by ballot initiative.
Idaho has the same challenge. This November 5, vote NO on proposition 1.
Prop 1 was created and financed by an out-of-state, Left-wing movement to fundamentally change our elections. The originators of Prop 1 are Left-wing activists who have been thoroughly frustrated that Idaho has maintained a mostly conservative, Republican controlled government for several decades.
Frustrated that their far-Left, progressive policies have consistently caused their candidates to lose, the Democrats have now schemed to blow up Idaho’s election system with Prop 1. Prop 1 is also endorsed by the Communist Party of the USA for the same reason that Idaho’s minority Democrats support the bad policy in Prop 1.
Prop 1 proposes 2 significant changes to our elections. On the first change, Prop 1 supporters have lied to voters. Prop 1 supporters have claimed that it creates a new open primary election system to replace the current May primary election. In Idaho, open primaries were in place for decades and were a system in which you could vote in any organized political party’s primary election without being affiliated with that party.
For example, Democrats could vote in the Republican primary election 20 years ago. Because so many Democrats were helping to choose the Republican nominees, Idaho’s Republican Party began to exclude registered Democrats from the Republican primary in 2011. (Republicans allow independent or unaffiliated voters to show up on primary election day and change their affiliation to Republican and then vote in the Republican primary election).
When the Republicans blocked Democrats from participating in Republican primaries, many Democrats just changed their party affiliation to Republican to participate anyway. The inconvenience of Democrats having to register as Republicans is one of the reasons Prop 1 backers are running the ballot initiative.
Prop 1 DOES NOT create an open primary like its backers claim.
In fact, the liberal supporters of Prop 1 have only focused on this bogus claim, so much so that their main website includes in its website address “Open Primaries”. Prop 1 actually blows up Idaho’s current primary election system and replaces it with a Top 4 primary.
The worst part of Prop 1 though is what it does to the general election. Right now, many counties in Idaho use paper ballots and hand count the results. This is the most secure form of elections. Both Bonner and Boundary counties have secure elections.
Prop 1 will require that all of Idaho’s counties purchase election systems like the infamous Dominion voting systems. All of the ballots must then be transmitted by internet to a centralized counting center in order to institute Prop 1’s Ranked Choice Voting, or instant run-off election. Prop 1 will cost Idaho’s taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.
But worse, Prop 1 will create massive opportunities for election fraud and voter confusion. If Prop 1 passes, Idaho’s elections will become less secure.
Prop 1 completely changes what your ballot would look like in the general election. Your entire voting life you have showed up at the polls and picked one candidate for each office on the ballot. With Prop 1, you will no longer do that. Instead, you will be asked to rank all of the candidates for each office on the ballot.
With Prop 1, there likely will be at least 4 candidates on your ballot for each office because of Prop 1’s new Top 4 primary system. If you stick to your traditions and only pick one candidate and do not rank all of the other candidates in descending order, it is likely that your ballot will be cast out before the winner of the election is chosen. It is also likely that the person who wins the initial vote count will end up losing the election, and the election’s winner may not even come close to earning a majority of the vote from the people who voted in that election.
Picture this – on your ballot for President would be Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, Robert F. Kennedy and Randall Terry. Normally, you would just pick President Trump and be done. You would probably never choose someone like Kamala Harris because of her disagreeable values, character and policies.
Prop 1 will demand that you also rank Kamala Harris in your order of preference. If you refuse to do so, there is a statistical possibility that as the Dominion voting system calculates the instant runoff portion of the ballot counting (called Ranked Choice Voting), your ballot may be thrown out, and your vote for President will ultimately not be counted.
Prop 1 destroys the concept of one person, one vote. If Prop 1 passes, elections in Idaho will become more confusing, will take longer to tabulate, will be prone to election fraud and will become more expensive to run and tabulate.
Please tell all of your friends to vote NO on proposition 1 on your November general election ballot.
